GeoSched ^TM

Ramos Systems, Inc announces GeoSched ^TM an interactive geographical scheduling package for fixed route buses. GeoSched ^TM  is the only fixed route scheduler designed from the ground up to be geographically based. Drawing on its experience gained from over two decades of developing software for the transit industry, Ramos Systems has developed an intuitive tool for creating fixed route bus schedules.

The scheduler features include:
     ■  Ability to draw timpoints and bus patterns on a base map of the service area
     ■  Creation of routes and trips based on the patterns
     ■  Assignment of trips to blocks
     ■  Creation of driver work assignments
     ■  Creation of driver rosters and sign-in sheets
     ■  Conflict checking at each step of the process to avoid scheduling problems
     ■  Creation of HTML headway sheets with support for footnotes at each timepoint

GeoSched ^TM has been specifically developed for the small to medium size bus companies that might not be able to afford the big name products that can cost hundreds of thousands of dollars. Currently, there are a couple of major companies that produce full featured but expensive scheduling packages targeted for the larger transit properties. If these systems are able to help those transit properties fixed route fleets achieve just a few percentages of increase in productivity, they can return the original investment in just a couple of years. However, for smaller transit companies with a fewer vehicles and a smaller payroll, the opportunity to recoup such a large investment does not exist.

All route structure information is stored in a database and can be used to create headway sheets, driver manifests, route descriptions, pullout sheets, driver sign-in sheets, and section 15 reports. The graphic route patterns can also be used to produce maps for bus schedules distributed to the public.

GeoSched ^TM has a Windows interface which allows a user to interactively construct and modify fixed route schedules. It provides an integrated system for developing routes and schedules as well as driver and vehicle assignments, with the ability to interface with customer service information, payroll, maintenance, planning and paratransit.

GeoSched ^TM is designed to support Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) and Global Positioning System (GPS) with features such as route distances and geographical coordinates for nodes.

Ramos System’s approach to the design of the GeoSched ^TM software is to provide a seamless interface across Microsoft products including Windows, SQL Server, Access, Excel, Word, etc. Ramos Systems? background gives it a unique perspective in designing an integrated system for transit planning, analysis of performance measures, vehicle maintenance, operator/driver bidding process, and support for community based services.

Ramos Systems has worked with fixed route schedule databases from multiple vendors including Teleride/Sage, Trapeze, Giro and several home-grown systems developed by individual transit authorities. Therefore, we are very familiar with the structure of most of the common fixed route schedule databases used by transit companies. We have used that experience to create a product that can satisfy the various users of scheduling information including passenger information, dispatching, automatic vehicle location systems, and automatic voice response systems.
